Navratri Special - Did you know? - Part 1

By what name is Maa Saraswati known and worshiped in Japan?

'Maa Saraswati' is known as 'Benzaiten' and in the form holds a musical instrument known as 'biwa'.

Japanese couples who desire to have a beautiful daughter pray to goddess Saraswati and in ancient times, Japanese generals prayed to Saraswati to be victorious in war.

Saraswati is also worshipped as the 'goddess of the kitchen'.

In 1934, a Japanese woman had a vision that she was the incarnation of goddess Saraswati and stared writing in Sanskrit, a language she never heard off. May Mother Benzaiten bless us all! Jai Mata Di!
